Who may enter
Contests are open to writers from anywhere in the world.

Details
The competition is organised by the Boston Review, an American political and literary magazine.

There are two contests:

• Annual Poetry Contest
• Aura Estrada Short Story Contest

All entries must be related to this year’s theme of Repair.

You may submit:

•  up to 5 poems or 10 pages, whichever comes first;
•  a short story of no longer than 5,000 words.

Poems and stories must be unpublished.

All entries must be in English.

Entry fees
There is an entry fee of US$20 for writers from the United States, Canada, and Western Europe.

Contestants outside U.S., Canada, Western Europe, and those experiencing hardship may enter free of charge.

Prizes
The first prize winner in each contest receives US$1,000.

The winning work will be published in Boston Review’s special literary issue Repair (March 2022).
