Who may enter
The Bath Children’s Novel Award is an international prize for emerging novelists. The competition is open to unpublished, self-published and independently published writers. Full terms here.
Details
The competition is organised by Caroline Ambrose a Bath-based book columnist, public libraries campaigner, & regular chair for literary events.
Novels should be for children who are able to read for themselves, or young adults.
Novels must be your original work and in English.
Novels can be unpublished, self-published or independently published.
Submissions should include one document including (up to) the first 5,000 words of your novel followed by a synopsis of no more than 300 words.
A children’s literary agent will judge the winning manuscript from a shortlist chosen by Junior Judges aged seven to seventeen.
Entry fees
The entry fee is £28 per novel.
Prize
The winner will receive a cash prize of £3,000.
The writer of the most promising longlisted novel, as chosen by the Bath Novel Awards and Cornerstones Literary Consultancy will receive a free place on Cornerstones’ 18 week online course Edit Your Novel the Professional Way.
