Who may enter
The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over. International entries are welcome.
Details
The National Poetry Competition is an annual poetry prize organised by the UK-based Poetry Society.
All poems must have a title and must not exceed 40 lines in length (excluding title)
Entries must be written in English.
Entries can be on any subject.
Entries must not have been published, self-published, published on a website or made public on social media, broadcast or featured among the winners in another competition before 31 March 2022.
The judges this year are Fiona Benson, David Constantine and Rachel Long.
The first poem submitted costs £7. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £4 per poem.
Prizes
• 1st prize: £5,000
• 2nd prize: £2,000
• 3rd prize: £1,000
• Commendations: £200
